Healthy life expectancy (HLE) for males and females at birth by upper tier local authorities* (UTLAs), England: between 2009 to 2011 and 2012 to 2014
This interactive mapping tool allows you to analyse trends in healthy life expectancy (HLE) and life expectancy (LE) by upper tier local authorities (UTLAs) in England for the periods 2009 to 2011, 2010 to 2012, 2011 to 2013 and 2012 to 2014.
HLE adds a quality of life dimension to estimates of LE, providing an indicator of lifetime spent in favourable and unfavourable health states. It is used as a high level outcome to contrast the health status of different populations at specific points in time and to monitor changes in population health over time, giving context to the impacts of policy changes and interventions at both national and local levels.
*HLE is not calculated for the City of London and Isles of Scilly due to insufficient population, deaths and disability prevalence data.
